FIS RULES OF CONDUCT FOR SKIERS AND SNOWBOARDERS ON THE SLOPE

FIS Skiing Rules – Slope Safety in Jasná 2025/2026

FIS skiing rules are not just a set of rules – they are the foundation of safe skiing in the Jasná ski resort. At SNOWFLAKE ACADEMY ski school, we consider knowledge of the slope code to be as important as skiing technique.

Safe Skiing in Jasná Requires Following the FIS Rules:

Respect for others
Every skier and snowboarder must behave in such a way that they do not endanger the life or health of others or cause them harm.

Control of speed and manner of skiing
Every skier and snowboarder must ski in control. Speed and manner of skiing must be adapted to their ability, terrain, snow and weather conditions, and the number of people on the slope.

Choice of route
A skier or snowboarder coming from behind must choose their route so as not to endanger those ahead. They must maintain sufficient distance to allow others enough space for their direction and style of skiing.

Overtaking
Overtaking may be done from above or below, from the left or right, but always at a distance that leaves enough space for the overtaken skier or snowboarder.

Entering and starting on the slope
Anyone entering or starting again after stopping must look up and down the slope to make sure they can do so without endangering themselves or others.

Stopping and standing
A skier or snowboarder must not stop or stand unnecessarily on narrow or blind spots. After a fall, they must leave such a place as quickly as possible. Standing is allowed only at the edge of the slope.

Climbing and descending on foot
A skier or snowboarder climbing or descending on foot must stay at the edge of the slope.

Respect for signs and markings
Every skier and snowboarder must respect slope markings, heed warning signs, and follow the instructions of ski patrol and lift personnel.

Assistance in case of accidents
In the event of an accident, every skier or snowboarder is obliged to provide help and inform the authorized persons (ski patrol, lift staff).

Identification requirement
Every skier and snowboarder, whether a witness or participant, responsible or not, must identify themselves in the event of an accident.
